This piece went relatively fast, painting wet on wet with bold brushstrokes. This is a picture of the high Uintahs in Utah. The lakes up in the forest are always so quite and still. This is an 8x10 oil on panel.
This painting was recently purchased by Malcolm White, a fellow traveler and collector of art and culture. Malcolm lives and works in Mississippi. We met last summer when he was attending the National Assembly of State Arts Agency's Executive Director's retreat in Park City. Malcolm is the Director of the Mississippi Arts Commission and friends of Jan and Lawrence Farrington of Park City and Jackson, Mississippi. Lawrence serves on the Board of Commissioners of the Mississippi Arts Commission and he and Jan are avid art collectors. This is the second painting of mine that Malcolm has taken back south to share.
I enjoy all things creative-I'm a writer, painter, and swimsuit designer. (quite the combo) I own and operate, Persona Swimwear. Designing suits to flatter a woman's body with an artistic flare. Simply beautiful.
Emily Chaney graduated from the University of Utah with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2002. She has participated in the Park City and Logan art festivals. Her work is currently on display at the Paisley Pomegranate in Park City and Crowley Wilkerson Fine Art in Ogden and Eden.
She has been featured in Southwest Art Magazine in September 2007 issue. Chaney's first one-person show was also in September of 2007 at the Paisley Pomegranate. She was also featured in the Salt Lake Community College's Presidents Show in March 2008.
Currently she is working at an art gallery and completing her Masters in Education. Chaney uses color to catch the eye, and applies a mix of hard lines with blended brushstrokes to capture a moment. She is exploring the figure, landscape, and organic elements in her work.
